Diet and Health

Diet

At Chasebrook we feed our whippets a Prey Model Raw diet. This is a balanced natural diet that has no unnecessary fillers, preservatives or other nasty additives. Feeding a raw diet can prevent allergies which are unfortunately extremely common in dogs that are fed an exclusively kibble based diet.

We meal-prep each dogs daily rations, freezing enough to feed them for a week or a month, depending upon available freezer space. Each meal is tailored individually for each dog which ensures we don't end up with 1 underweight or 1 overweight dog.

their meals may include raw lamb, kangaroo, beef, goat or chicken muscle meat mince, dependant on availability at the time. They also include soft bones such as chicken necks, wing tips, brisket bones which are essential for calcium intake and healthy teeth.

a small balanced percentage of liver, kidney, brain, pancreas and spleen is also added as well as a small amount of fibre from pumpkin, fruits, sweet potato and carrots. Sardines and egg are also added as a topper. For good gut health we add the pre and pro-biotic 'in-sideout' from EAC.

I have added some links here for some dog food and feeding pages.

It is also recommended that breeding dogs also have

It is important to be sure that after you invest your money, time and love in your new puppy that it will be free from any issues that may be financially draining and cause untold heartache for you and your family.

The current and future health of your puppy must be paramount when choosing your new family member.

Ensuring that the above tests have been performed by your breeder ensures that your puppy is less likely to have any hereditary issues that could affect his or her quality of life.

Before we breed any of our girls they all have had to pass the above health tests.
