Dogs Australia (Australian National Kennel Council) is Australia's national body. When buying a purebred pup with papers please ensure they are genuine ANKC papers otherwise they actually mean nothing and your pup is not registered and not eligible to participate in conformation shows or most dog sports and his or her pedigree is not verified or recognised. 

Dogs West is Western Australia's branch of the ANKC.

They govern all breeding, showing and sporting events in WA.

They have an excellent venue in Southern River where most conformation shows and agility events take place. 

If you are buying a puppy in WA you can check with Dogs West that the breeder is registered with the ANKC.

Ashsinhalt Whippets is based in South Australia.

Their angle is to prevent common health issues by testing before breeding

if every breeder tested and used their results to make informed decisions prior to breeding many common health issues will be eliminated.
